Our Preschool Morning Routine
Our 3 year old morning routine starts at 6:30 AM. We have about an hour before leaving for preschool.
Breakfast is the hardest part of our morning. My son is not a big breakfast eater, and sometimes he cries when I simply say, “Let’s eat breakfast!” π
When the preschool lunch menu is pizza or pasta, I usually give him a more filling breakfast:
Rice + 2 vegetables + egg
On other days, we keep breakfast simple:
- Greek yogurt + fruit
- Toast + milk
- Occasionally, roll cake + milk
I’ve learned that with a 3-year-old, getting them to eat something is sometimes more realistic than insisting on a perfect breakfast.
After breakfast, we wash his face, brush his teeth, get dressed, and leave for preschool at 7:30 AM.
Our Evening Routine
Because my son attends after care, we usually pick him up around 5:30 PM.
Our evening routine is simple:
Shower β Dinner β Snack β Family Playtime β Brush Teeth β Books β Bed
Our favorite part is 7:30 PM playtime with Mom and Dad. After a long preschool day, we like having some quiet family time before bed.
At 9:00 PM, we read a few books together and then it’s bedtime.
A Realistic 3-Year-Old Routine
This 3 year old daily schedule works for our family right now, but it isn’t perfect every day.
Some mornings are easy. Other mornings involve breakfast tears, missing shoes, or a 3-year-old suddenly refusing to wear the outfit we picked. π
For us, the goal is simply to have a predictable preschool morning routine and bedtime routine.
It doesn’t have to be perfect. It just needs to work for your family.
