Abma’s Farm Petting Zoo in Wyckoff, NJ: Is It Worth Visiting with Toddlers?
Looking for a fun petting zoo in Bergen County, NJ? We recently visited Abma’s Farm Market, Greenhouse, and Barnyard Petting Zoo in Wyckoff, NJ with my 3-year-old.
If you’re planning a visit, here are a few things I wish I had known before going!
Parking: Bring a Stroller?
When you first arrive, you may see signs near the entrance for short-term parking. If you need more parking spaces, follow the signs toward MORE PARKING SPACE.
The additional parking area is a little farther away, so I brought a stroller.
Honestly, though? I kind of regretted it. 😂
My toddler was so excited that he barely wanted to sit in the stroller! Still, I saw many parents bringing strollers, and it can definitely be helpful if you have younger children or don’t want them walking all the way from the parking area.
Tickets: Cash or Online?
One important thing to know before visiting is that tickets purchased on-site are cash only.
Buying tickets online may also be slightly cheaper. If you only have a credit card, you can scan the QR code at the entrance and purchase your ticket online.
But here’s my biggest tip:
Bring CASH! 💵
You will definitely want some cash if your child wants to feed the animals.
Feeding the Animals at Abma’s Farm
Since this is a petting zoo, the fun begins right at the entrance!
Goats were there to welcome us, and my son was SO excited. 😂
You need to purchase your admission ticket first, of course, but don’t forget about the animal food!
- Animal crackers: 2 for $1
- Feed basket: $8
- Refill: $3
These purchases are cash only, so seriously — don’t forget to bring cash!
I also heard from a friend that if you arrive later in the day, the goats may already be full and less interested in eating.
We arrived around 10 AM, and the goats were very hungry and eager to eat!
So if feeding the animals is a priority, I recommend going earlier.
Goats, Cows, Horses and More
My son loved feeding the goats, but we could also see other animals, including cows, horses, ducks, and pigs.
I thought my son might be scared of the cow because it was HUGE.
But apparently, to a toddler, a goat and a giant cow are basically the same thing. 😂
He was completely fine!
Unfortunately, we didn’t get to see the rabbits during our visit, which was a little disappointing.
Is Abma’s Farm Worth Visiting with Toddlers?
The barnyard itself isn’t very large, so I personally think this is best for babies, toddlers, and younger preschoolers.
For us, it was a fun outing, but I’m not sure my son would find it as exciting when he’s older.
I recommend Abma’s Farm for:
