Preschool Snack Ideas: 5 Snacks My Picky Toddler Has Tried (Honest Mom Reviews!)

Packing snacks for preschool sounds simple, right? Well, not when you have a picky toddler who suddenly wants everything their friends bring to school. πŸ˜‚

I try to avoid high fructose corn syrup and gummy snacks as much as possible. But when other kids bring juice for snack time, my child comes home asking for juice every single day!

I usually pack Honest Kids juice once or twice a week. Since I rarely pack it, my child has actually stopped asking for it as often. But the moment we see Pororo drinks at the store? The requests start all over again. Does this happen to your kids, too? πŸ˜…

I know I can’t say no to everything, so I’m trying to find a balance between what my child wants and what I feel comfortable packing.

Our preschool also requires nut-free and chocolate-free snacks, which makes choosing preschool snacks a little more challenging. I usually pack fruit for school and another snack for after-school care.

Here are five snacks we’ve tried, along with my honest thoughts as a mom!

Five preschool snack ideas for picky toddlers, including granola

1. MadeGood Organic Strawberry Granola Bites πŸ“

I wondered whether my child would still enjoy granola bites because they used to eat granola more often when they were younger.

Surprisingly, these were a hit! They’re sweet, small, and easy for little hands to grab. My child eats several at a time and always asks for more. They’re also convenient to toss into a preschool snack bag.

MadeGood has other flavors, including mixed berry and chocolate chip. I’d love to try the mixed berry flavor next, but my picky eater makes me nervous about buying a whole box. Fellow moms of picky eaters, you know the struggle!

Mom verdict: A convenient, kid-approved snack worth keeping in the pantry.

2. Annie’s Organic Chocolate Chip Cookie Bites πŸͺ

These are one of my child’s favorite snacks, and honestly, I enjoy them, too!

The only problem? Our preschool doesn’t allow chocolate snacks, so these are strictly for home. I usually give my child two cookies after a good meal rather than letting cookies replace dinner.

I’m trying to teach balance, not ban every sweet treat. After all, a little chocolate makes life happier, doesn’t it? πŸ˜‚

Mom verdict: A delicious treat for home, but not an option for our preschool snack bag.

3. Earth’s Best Organic Kids Snacks πŸ₯¦

These snacks look like little veggie sticks and have a mild flavor without being overly salty.

When my child was younger, they enjoyed eating these with Greek yogurt dip. It was a nice way to make snack time a little more fun. Lately, though, my child has started losing interest in them.

Isn’t it funny how toddlers can love something one month and refuse to touch it the next? I’m learning not to assume that a snack will stay a favorite forever!

Mom verdict: A mild-tasting option that worked well for us when my child was younger, especially with a dip.

4. Earth’s Best Organic Sunny Days Snack Bars 🍯

I recently bought these because they looked sweet and tasty, and I wanted to add some variety to our snack rotation.

So far, my child seems to enjoy them! I suspect seeing other kids bring similar snack bars to school makes them more appealing. Apparently, snacks taste better when your friends have them, too. πŸ˜‚

The funniest part? My child went to bed saying they wanted to bring one to school the next day. I haven’t even tried one myself yet, so I can’t give you my personal taste review. For now, I’m going by my child’s enthusiastic approval!

Mom verdict: A promising new addition to our preschool snack rotation, based on my child’s reaction so far.

5. GoGo squeeZ YogurtZ Variety Pack 🍦

This one was a surprise. My child usually doesn’t like yogurt, especially the kind that comes in a pouch. But after seeing friends bring yogurt snacks to school, suddenly they wanted some, too.

Of course, I bought a pack. And of course… my child refused to eat it. 😭

I wasn’t ready to give up, so I tried a little mom hack: I opened the top, inserted a popsicle stick, froze it, and told my child it was ice cream.

Guess what? It worked!

Sometimes, all it takes is changing how you serve a food. I’m not saying this will work for every toddler, but it definitely saved our yogurt from going to waste.

Mom verdict: Worth trying if your child likes frozen treats but refuses yogurt pouches!

The Daily Preschool Snack Struggle Is Real ❀️

Choosing snacks for preschool has become a daily negotiation in our house. My child can love the same snack for an entire week, then suddenly decide it’s no longer good enough.

And every night before bed, I hear the big question: β€œWhat snack am I bringing tomorrow?”

I’m always looking for snacks that are convenient, easy to pack, and appealing to my child while fitting our preschool’s rules. But I’m also learning that food preferences change constantly, especially when kids start comparing their snacks with their friends’.

Moms, what are your favorite healthy toddler snacks or nut-free preschool snacks? Do your kids also want whatever their classmates bring? I’d love to discover some new options to add to our rotation!
